Ocean Blue Social Work and Counselling

Building strength, fostering growth, empowering change.

Grief, Loss & Mental Health Counselling

Supporting adults through bereavement, significant loss and life changes that can affect our sense of self, relationships and the way forward.

Ocean Blue Social Work & Counselling provides individual therapy for adults experiencing grief, loss, trauma and mental health concerns.

With a particular clinical interest in grief and bereavement, I provide a supportive space to explore the impact of loss without expectations about how you should grieve, how long grief should last, or what moving forward should look like.

Grief is not only about bereavement

We often associate grief with the death of someone we love. While bereavement can bring profound changes to our lives, grief can also follow many other forms of loss.

The end of a relationship, changes in health or physical ability, loss of independence, retirement, changes in employment, estrangement, infertility, children leaving home, caring for someone whose health is declining, pet loss, or losing the future you imagined can all bring experiences of grief.

Some losses are openly recognised by others. Others are less visible and can leave you feeling that you should simply cope or move on.

There is no single way that grief should look.

Mental Health Therapy

Grief and loss are a particular area of interest within my clinical practice, however they are not the only reasons people seek therapy.

Ocean Blue also provides individual mental health therapy for adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, shame, changes in identity, relationship difficulties and emotional distress.

Difficult experiences rarely occur in isolation. Past experiences, relationships, physical health, social circumstances and significant changes in life can all influence how we understand ourselves and respond to what is happening now.

Therapy is tailored to you rather than expecting you to fit within one particular therapeutic approach.

A Space to Understand What Has Changed

Loss can change more than our circumstances.

It can affect our roles, routines, relationships, identity and assumptions about how life was supposed to unfold.

Sometimes the challenge is not about returning to who you were before. Therapy can provide space to understand what has changed, what remains important to you and what moving forward might mean in your own life.

There is no expectation to "move on" or find something positive in a difficult experience.

The focus is on helping you make sense of your experience and find a way forward that respects both what has been lost and what continues to matter.

Accessing Therapy

Therapy is available via Telehealth across Australia, allowing you to attend appointments from a private and comfortable location without needing to travel.

Taking the Next Step

You do not need to have the right words for what you are experiencing before seeking support.
